With a simple shiplap connection system, a rot and splinter-resistant surface and 2.5m or 3.6m board lengths, it provides a practical composite cladding option for creating a bold exterior finish, with minimal upkeep and straightforward cleaning and maintenance to help retain its appearance. The darker surface is also particularly good at disguising everyday marks and dirt, while our experience with this enhanced wood-grain finish has shown minimal noticeable colour change compared with some of our lighter Grey finishes.

Black is a bold colour, but on this board the surface texture is just as important as the shade. The wood grain can be difficult to appreciate fully in photographs, particularly on a darker finish. Seeing a sample in person lets you see how the grain catches the light and whether you want that textured timber appearance for your project.

A Word from Our Expert, Allan Jeffrey BSc. Eng. (Hons), Composite Materials Specialist, Environmentalist, and CEO of Ultra Decking:
Our Black Wood Grain Cladding is a rising choice with customers and a finish we’re seeing increasingly used on modern exterior projects. Black gives you that bold, sleek appearance, but combining it with the natural wood-grain surface stops the board from looking too flat and helps retain some of the authentic character you’d expect from timber.
What I like about Black is how easily it can work with different garden features and designs. We’ve seen it used to create a strong standalone feature as well as alongside glass, modern window frames and other darker exterior details. The deeper tone is also very forgiving in everyday use, helping to disguise minor marks, scratches and stains.
The enhanced surface treatment comes from techniques used across our composite decking ranges. From our experience with these boards, the Black finish weathers particularly well and shows less noticeable colour change than our Grey Wood Grain Cladding, helping it retain that richer, darker appearance for longer.
If you’re looking for that sleek, modern appeal that’ll look exceptional on your Instagram feed, then black wood grain cladding is your go-to. Homes with larger windows or a feature of glass look extraordinary with the striking black colour however, black wood grain cladding can work well with anything!
You can go in several directions with Black Cladding. White, Grey and other neutral tones can keep the overall design modern and understated, while warmer colours can create a much stronger contrast. Natural greens can also work particularly well where you want the darker cladding to sit alongside planting and landscaping.
If you’re deciding how Black will work with the rest of your exterior, our guide to choosing a composite cladding colour looks more closely at colour combinations and what to consider before making your choice.
The common issue with opting for black is they are a darker colour and they do get hot on in the sun, As long you not consistently interacting with the surface, unlike decking for example we don’t see any future issue from customer in relation to the surface heat, so even through it is a con, nothing be reported back to ourselves of this being a issue after installation.
Black definitely doesn’t equal doom and gloom! In fact, it’s quite the opposite. A black house in feng shui can provide your home with a sense of wealth and stability, which is never a bad thing.
