Expert Advice On 4m Composite Decking

Want to know more? Our in-house expert, Allan, gives his take on our 4m Wood Grain Composite Decking, and we’ve selected some of our best guides to help you decide if this is the right choice for you.

A Word from Our Expert, Allan:

When customers ask me what makes our 4m Wood Grain boards stand out, it comes down to the surface technology and the installation speed. A lot of suppliers in the market are actually still selling older, first-generation boards that suffer from heavy UV fading. We specifically upgraded our wood grain surface treatment in 2022, and the difference is massive—it sees significantly less colour reduction compared to previous editions, locking in that authentic timber look for the long haul.

From an installer’s perspective, jumping up to a 4m length is also a complete game-changer. Because you are laying more meterage with every board, you drastically reduce the number of cuts and visible butt joints. Not only does this give you a much cleaner, completely flush design across the deck, but it speeds up the installation significantly. Whether you are doing it yourself or paying a landscaper by the day, that faster fitting time directly translates to lower overall project costs.

FAQ About Our 4m Composite Decking

  • 1Will the colour fade over time?

Like all high-quality first-generation composite materials, our decking may lighten slightly (up to 20%) during the first few months due to UV exposure. This natural process creates a consistent and weathered tone.

  • 2Is this 4m board suitable for DIY installation?

Absolutely. The lightweight 4m boards are designed to be user-friendly, and the grooved edges make them compatible with hidden fastening systems. No specialist tools are needed—just follow the simple installation guide.

  • 3What’s the difference between the two 4m sides?

One side features a detailed woodgrain pattern, ideal for a natural aesthetic. The reverse has narrow grooves, offering a more contemporary, minimalist look. Both finishes are slip-resistant and reversible to suit your preference.

  • 4Do I need to seal or stain the 4m boards?

Not at all. Unlike timber, composite boards do not require any sealing, painting, or staining. That’s what makes them the low-maintenance choice for busy homeowners.

  • 5Are the boards environmentally friendly?

Yes, these decking boards are made using a blend of recycled plastics and sustainably sourced wood fibres, helping you reduce your carbon footprint without sacrificing style.

  • 6Why are they more expensive that 4m grooved decking?

They use more materials. Most composite decking costs are based on the weight and quality of materials. Since this design has no grooves, it uses slightly more material, which increases the cost, but it is more durable in long-term use.
