Tips and Tricks for Getting Your Garden Spring-Ready!

Start 2025 With a Fresh Garden Clean Up - Just in Time for Spring!

Winter is nearly over here in the UK and for many homeowners, they are glad to have a garden re-fresh! If the cold winter weather has disrupted and ruined your indoor-outdoor aesthetic then you’ll be glad to know the cusp of Spring is nearly here; so now is the best time to get your garden prepped in time for the glorious weather to arrive!

Here below we have put together our best tips and tricks to get your garden spring-ready!

Spring-Clean Your Garden!

During the colder months of Autumn and winter, leaves begin to fall so you may have some unwanted debris in your garden, which you would do without! Remove all fallen leaves from your garden to begin your garden makeover.

Your patio may be in need of some tender love and care with a quick jet wash to remove all the dirt and debris from the area. The build-up of these over the previous months may be making your garden look tired however but with a quick tidy up of just these two things – this could be a massive improvement. Don’t forget to give your lawn a bit of love too!

Revitalise Your Composite Decking

You may be used to looking out of your garden and seeing ice and debris  over your composite decking, but Spring is around the corner and it’s time for that warmer weather to melt away those winter blues. Composite decking is renowned for its durability and longevity so colder months here aren’t necessarily something to worry about in terms of causing damage to your decking.

Unlike wood, which can struggle with the harsh elements of cold weather, composite materials are built to withstand it.. Once the ice has been removed from your composite decking area it’s time to get rid of the dirt and debris which has found a home over the last few months.

We advise you to use warm soapy water and a soft bristle brush to remove this. Check for any damage or cracks in your boards as you may wish to replace these before the busy period starts.

If you currently have timber decking you may be looking for a new alternative material for your outdoor space. We have three collections available, Home Choice, Exclusive Natural and Signature which all come in a variety of browns and greys, and black! Take a look at our must-have composite decking collections here.

Add Greenery and Spring Plants to Your Garden

Over the last few months your garden plants may be looking a little shrivelled and bare, but it’s time to add some colour back into your garden. Some of your plants may recover and only be dormant whilst they wait for the warmer weather to arrive. If you have some of these plants it’s best to leave them and feed them correctly so they appear in time for Spring.

However if most of yours have lost their colour for good it may be time to introduce some new Spring flowers and plants into your garden.

Upgrade Your Fencing

Composite fencing is one of the latest products to hit the market, many homeowners are opting to swap for this time timber due to its longevity and durability. The hard cold winter weather can take a toll on timber products so it’s no wonder why so many homeowners are out with the old timber and in with the new composite.

Here at Ultra Decking we range from individual fencing panels to full fencing kits for either posts which you may already have or if not we offer full kits which have aluminium posts in! Ranging from all shades of greys and browns we will have a fence to suit all customer needs! Request a free sample today or take a look at our full range here.

Create a Must-have Cosy Area!

Bringing the inside of your home to your outdoor garden is the perfect way to add a little cosiness to the space! Many homeowners are opting to add a pergola over their composite decking area which can also be closed or opened so you receive the benefits of the sunshine and the shade!

Add some extra comfort by adding furniture to the composite decking that guests can enjoy all year round! Perfect for relaxing and entertaining, you may want to also add some throws and cushions there!

Time to Get the Gardening Gloves Out!

We hope all the tips and tricks above have helped to give you a little inspiration to get back out into your garden, get those gloves on, grab those tools and get your garden ready for the warmer weather! Now is the perfect time to start growing your own vegetables if you fancy a challenge or you may wish to grow your own flowers and plants – it’s never too late to create a beautiful garden all your neighbours want!
